Pain Education Relief Program (PREP™)
One of our richest programs is the Pain Education Relief Program (PREP). This program includes in-office education materials targeted to individuals who are candidates for spinal cord stimulation. This unique program is designed to help you educate patients about neurostimulation in gradual steps throughout the course of treatment.
At each PREP step, you’ll be able to give your patients the resources they need to make informed choices about neurostimulation therapy—whether they’re just learning about the therapy, getting ready for a neurostimulation trial, or preparing for a permanent system.
PREP takes patient education to a whole new level—actually, to five new levels: Awareness, Introduction to SCS (Neurostimulation), Preparing for the Trial, Trial, and Preparing for the Permanent System.
Awareness: In the awareness phase, patients may be hearing about neurostimulation for the first time or considering it as a therapy option for the first time. For this phase, we have developed a trifold brochure we call "The Big Picture." This brochure gives patients a brief overview of neurostimulation therapy without overwhelming them with too much detail about the implantable system or the procedure.
Step 1 contains an easy-to-understand video and booklet that provide an overview of neurostimulation, its benefits, and the types of systems available to address your patients’ chronic pain.
Step 2 is designed to help patients prepare—emotionally and physically—for the neurostimulation trial. It contains a pre-trial diary where they can record information about their pain condition and a checklist that takes the guesswork out of getting ready for the trial procedure.
Step 3 is designed to support patients during a trial. Patients receive the Trial Pack, which includes a trial video, a comprehensive trial diary, lead labels, and extra batteries in one convenient package. It also has a companion card to engage family members or friends who will be assisting the patient, so they can help make the trial a success.
Step 4 is for patients who have had a successful neurostimulation trial. These patients will receive practical information about the systems that might be appropriate for them. They can preview the components, understand how the system will be implanted, and learn about living with their neurostimulation system.
Step 5 is the Owner’s Manual and for patients who have received a neurostimulation system. This manual includes, calendar pages, assessment sheets, tips on travel and much more.
